Overview

Our Pavement Marking Foreman will oversee construction projects from beginning to end and coordinate workers. Responsibilities are guiding staff, supervising striping installation, assigning tasks, preventing occupational hazards, and keeping records. Demonstrate technical skills, managerial abilities, attention to details, stamina, basic computer operation knowledge, and teamwork. Assists other construction crew members with striping projects and provides supervision to ensure a projects success. This role fits someone with leadership skills, initiative, and prior striping installation experience. Foreman  can expect to work full-time hours that include frequent travel, with overtime and on-call work sometimes necessary to handle emergencies and get projects done on time.

Responsibilities

 

  • Manage Construction Projects
    • Foreman will perform tasks involving physical labor at parking lots by measuring, remarking, and laying out parking lot bays, characters, numbers and stencils using a mechanical striping machine.
    • Foreman will be accountable for all equipment, including but not limited to truck, trailer, striping machine and ensuring that proper materials are on site to complete each construction project.
    • Communication with Project Managers regarding weather status, start time and coordination of work flow on job site if Paving Crews are still working.
  • Work Orders, Maps and Documentation
    • Foreman will ensure that all materials are installed to manufacture specifications for the project and all work is completed meeting Pave America Standards.
    • Review maps and ensure that work orders are complete to Project Manager/Customers specifications.
    • Ensure that all work photos have been submitted through Pavement Software Solutions and/or directly to the Project Manager/Customer per request on each project.
  • Supervise and Assist Crew Members
    • Assigning tasks to construction crew members and supervising their work are important aspects of the job, including training of proper technique and specifics related to striping.
    • Beyond providing supervision, Foremen often obtain materials, lift heavy items, load and unload the work truck to help crew members.
    • Evaluate and suggest changes based on working conditions and equipment usage to increase efficiency
    • Foreman will provide evaluations of crew members for additional training and/or promotional opportunities.
    • Foreman may be asked to lead other teams with special tasks when deemed necessary by Superintendent.
  • Safety and Equipment Maintenance
    • Clean and prepare job-site to eliminate possible hazards for crew and public safety.
    • Facilitate the safety of crew while on job site with proper PPE an meet any additional safety requirements as outlined in work order.
    • Proper usage of equipment and assistance of crews including but not limited to loading and unloading 5 gallon buckets of paint and striping machines trailers.
    • Verify equipment is in proper working order and report any equipment issues to Superintendent
    • Foreman will be accountable for routine repair and maintenance of equipment
    • Ensure proper signage is displayed a each job-site
  • Complete Daily Reports
    • This management role requires Foreman to be accountable for total cost and production time-line during the entirety of the project, meeting profitability requirements.
    • Foreman will be required to record daily job information such as material, equipment, personnel, in Pavement Software Solutions daily.

Qualifications

  • Pavement Marking Foreman should have experience applying paint using a mechanical striping machine.
  • Foreman understands functionality of equipment including start engine, move throttles, switches, levers and depress pedals to operate machines such mechanical striping machine and box truck.
  • Foreman is a top-level skilled striper who understands the factors that affect project completion, whether estimating materials needed or providing an expected completion date to the client,
  • Foreman assigns work and supervises other construction workers (1-2 people) involved in the striping installation process. This requires knowing how to coach, train, motivate others and handle conflicts among workers. Maintain safety standards at all times.
  • Analytical thinking is essential to reading and analyzing maps, work orders and ensuring a project meets all specifications requires critical thinking. When the project schedule goes off track, Foreman must analyze how to rearrange activities or add resources to prevent delays.
  • Capacity to evaluate and train crew members for cross training and promotional opportunities.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Stamina to meet demanding schedules, frequent long hours including nights, weekends and occasional Holidays.
  • Must be available to work overtime as required.
  • Some out-of-state travel may be required.
  • Experience in more in depth, complicated striping projects such as advanced layout.
  • Disassemble and Reassemble equipment to meet maintance schedules
  • 10+ years experience in striping, including leading a crew.
